08:06 AM ET 09.07 | Depending on how strictly one adheres to a depth chart, we can expect to see DeSean Jackson returning kicks. Take it for what it's worth, but the depth chart on the Eagles Web site has [Jackson] as their top punt returner and Jeremy Maclin as his backup. The philadelphiaeagles.com depth chart is a far cry from the final word on personnel decisions, but with few options after the Eagles released a number of preseason candidates, Jackson will likely be returning punts in Sunday's opener. ... A few weeks back the wide receiver told The Inquirer that he was still up for the job. There was some speculation that Jackson would balk at returning punts if he didn't have a contract extension by the start of the season.

Wow, like we all saw that coming.

It'd be stupid not to have this guy returning, he's got mad speed.

He'll be whining at some point about the contract. Probably when he's on IR.

September 7, 2011  08:19 AM ET

to bad he won't have very many kicks to return....talk about easy money....

September 7, 2011  08:27 AM ET

Still not sure why they changed the kickoff yardage rule.

September 7, 2011  08:29 AM ET

As predicted, the foolish decision by the No Fun League to move the kickoff line up 5 yards to increase the number of exciting touchbacks is already having an impact on roster decisions concerning return guys. Their value has dropped to the point that teams like the Iggles have downgraded the position, and now they won't even carry a return specialist.

Good effin' going, Roger. Stupid turd. 8 straight minutes of commercials after every touchdown or field goal, interrupted only by a ceremonial kick into the end zone. Whoopee.

I would say that summed things up rather nicely.

Not quite everything, but "Jets Suck" just didn't go with the rest of the post.

Looks like the Eagles are going to put it all on the line every play of every game. Anyone taking odds when the backups become the starters.

September 7, 2011  10:32 AM ET

Maybe he can throw some blocks with their sad o-line.

That actually wouldn't effect punts but mainly kickoffs.

September 7, 2011  11:16 AM ET

Let's hope he bends and doesn't break...still not convinced he'll be there full time...he can't be happy if he is since he's still on his rookie contract and it exposes him to a better chance of being injured....just let him return punts against the Giants and Cowboys

I thought this same/similar article was posted yesterday!

Darth this a article about punt returning not o-line. Your hate is noticable.

This thread didn't go too far.

He returned 50 punts in 2008, 29 in 2009, and 20 last year. And oh ya he's played 50 out of a possible 52 career games. ppl need to stop talking like he's gonna get hurt every time he touches the ball

Finally...a shred of enlightenment for those crawling in the dark.
