08:18 AM ET 09.07 | In the discussion among prospects many believe to be the future of baseball, Mike Trout is having a nice present, too. [Trout's] big league numbers, with the exception of his home-to-first times, are not off-the-charts. ... [One statistic] is eye-popping: The Angels are 18-4 in games the 20-year-old outfielder has started. "That's just part of the Lore of Trout -- or the Lure of Trout?" outfielder Vernon Wells joked after Monday night's win over Seattle, pun intended. Trout is a dynamic two-way player, a 20-year-old with speed, power, plate discipline and excellent defensive instincts, and he has injected some much needed life into an offense that has averaged 6.6 runs, more than two runs above its season average, over the past 16 games.

I don't know. Sounds kind of fishy to me.

Many of their last 16 games were against the O's, Twins and Mariners. They should be beating the crap out of those teams.

If they knew they had this young stud ready to come up, then the whole Vernon Wells move is even more of a head scratcher.

The Carl Crawford with the minimal contributions for the Red Sox? Looks like a good miss for now.

The Angels should've been more avid pursuers of Adam Dunn.

Not so fast. They are only 3.5 back with good pitching to boot.

winner of the AL west may not finish with the 3rd best record.... a few weeks ago that was a given.

My son played against Trout in high school - It's great to see him doing so well. He was the only prospect with the backbone to be in the MLB studio on draft night the first year they televised the draft on MLB network. He's got the physical tools, heart, head, and character to be the real thing.

Not really. Trout doesn't play CF

What's with the Angels and fish? First Tim Salmon, now Mike Trout, all they need now is Carp from the Mariners.

Sorry, my bad. I was thinking Mark Trumbo for some reason.

If they get Carlos Zambrano they'd have a hammerhead too.
