Garrard AIN'T the answer, in a run controlled offense he still had trouble completing passes. I say the 49'ers tank the season and then start over with Luck.

It's always dangerous when you put all your hopes on great college QB who is unproven. Leaf, Russell, Harrington, Carr, and and a horde of others come to mind. Mind you, Carr never got the chance as he was always look at the turn from an inch away.

And the experts (LOL) say the best experience is to stick your franchise QB right into there, I believe it only worked with Aikman and Marino, but I might be wrong.

Only 5 teams? I'd be looking to upgrade if I were the GM in San Fran, Seattle, Oakland, Indy, Cincinatti, Buffalo, Miami or Washington. Add to that Carolina and any other team that's going with their rookie first-rounder under center. I'm guessing he'll start after a few weeks, but he would also be a decent backup for all but a handful of contenders.

Aikman and Peyton Manning both were thrown in (don't know about Marino), but both sucked badly the first season. I think they would've been good either way.

He qualifies as a shiny FA.... I think Washington has turned the corner from going after them - Especially for the QB position, with it being this close to the start of the season.

The jury is still out on Sam Bradford and Matthew "China Doll" Stafford, but so far it's working for them. And you can't argue that the Jests haven't been successful with their "Sanchize" quarterback, although he's one of the weak spots of that team.

These days, few teams have the luxury of being able to "season" a rookie before throwing him into the game. Too bad. In the long run, you get better QBs and better football if a new guy gets a season or two to come up to the NFL level.
