Free-agent righthander Kris Benson has intrigued the Phillies for a while, so yesterday they watched him throw in Phoenix. They wouldn't say much about their impressions, other than they plan to talk more with the scouts who watched him and collect more information. Benson, 33, threw 60 pitches in front of the Phillies and about eight other teams to showcase his surgically repaired right shoulder. The injury sidelined him for the 2007 season.

she is but she is a pretty good looking ****

December 18, 2007  11:39 AM ET

and as a player you hope her husband signs with your team because if he cheats on her she will sleep with every player/batboy/manager on the roster

Benson plays with no guts and passion for the game, He was a bust in Pittsburgh, NYM, and Balt, They will run him out of town in Philly.

It speaks volumes about the lack of pitching in baseball that teams even consider signing a bum like Benson. And what's really sad is he'll make a ton of dough to be mediocre at best. Just imagine if he was left handed!

December 18, 2007  12:46 PM ET

Bill- a pitcher with a 500 record and a 4.50 era can expect to make at least $10M a year... if you are left handed add $3M to that amount

December 18, 2007  01:15 PM ET

If they wanted to take a risk on a surgically repaired starter.....Why not take the chance on Mark Prior? He's a pitcher who would do well here....if he's a success he's a steal....if he sucked....toss him aside....plus he's a heckuva lot younger then Benson....

December 18, 2007  02:38 PM ET

I can break wind..but only when I use performance enhancers

December 18, 2007  03:28 PM ET

Why would the Phils look at Benson? Because they always have try and place at least one damaged pitcher on their rotation. Last year they had three...this year it looks like they are going for two at the onset. Let's see who they pick up for third and the OF. Anybody want to name a few?

Anna Benson is a Cinncinnatti Bengal. great uniform, ugly helmet.
