Don't do it.

What the hell is SMU thinking? It is a proven FACT that he can't recruit or coach.

Why doesn't Coker try for the West Viriginia job?? Or Spurrier try for West Virginia(even though its a spread offense), Spurrier could change a few things up & be in a prime spot for a national championship which probably won't ever happen @ S.Carolina!!

Wow, this one makes me nervous. I know the field is starting to get thin now, but do we really want to be dragging Coker's stigma onto the Hilltop? He might be a fabulous coach, but the recruiting angle worries me some. The team needs a leader to instill discipline, and if the Miami-FIU brawl is an indication of the kind of discipline he demands of his players, then he is not the right guy.

This would be ridiculous, this guy took a team full of future NFL Pro Bowlers and LOST to a below-average Ohio State team!

He should be waiting tables.

He'll drop dead before Easter anyway, so relax.

Larry Coker needs a second chance. SMU is a small enough program where he can rebuild himself.

December 18, 2007  01:53 PM ET

Below Average.....beautiful to be below average that year I guess.

December 18, 2007  02:52 PM ET

I don't know about the rest of ya'll..but that Coker cat's got the largest set of ears these eyes have ever seen!

How the mighty have fallen.
And even I don't know if I mean SMU or Coker.

December 18, 2007  04:30 PM ET

Heh... who else would've predicted that SMU would hire a coach that won a national title in this decade?

Granted, Coker is probably the last coach I would want on the list of coaches to have that distinction, but it's still funny.

sign him up. It's only paper, and if it doesn't work out fire his butt. Or put a big buyout on his contract, and some silly AD will think he's worth it & take him off your hands.

He looks like one of those characters Mario or Luigi jumps on to kick their shell.

I'm not a big Coker fan, but I'll bet his team wouldn't have to suspend 25 kids for a bowl game.
