09:37 AM ET 09.10 | For most teams, an off day provides players time to relax. For the Giants, an off day provides more bad injury news. Just ask Jeremy Affeldt and Nate Schierholtz. Affeldt is out for the season after cutting his right (non-pitching) hand in a kitchen accident on Thursday, according to manager Bruce Bochy, who said the reliever was trying to separate frozen hamburger patties when he sliced into the bottom of his palm. Affeldt said he came within a millimeter of an artery and underwent surgery eight hours after the accident to repair nerve damage in his pinkie.

No way this thread garners 1,000 posts. I think we've all tried to separate frozen burgers with a utensil of some sort. Sucks for this guy.

don't think the surgery was for that length of time as opposed to the time that elapsed from the injury to the surgery

the surgery wasnt for the cut, im sure it only took a few stitches to close it, the surgery was to repair nerve damage which is why it took so long

This is not funny, ok, it is, but I am laughing with him not at him.
