Clemens: 'I did not take steroids'
Roger Clemens denied allegations by his former trainer that he took performance-enhancing drugs, calling them "a dangerous and destructive shortcut that no athlete should ever take." "I want to state clearly and without qualification: I did not take steroids, human growth hormone or any other banned substances at any time in my baseball career or, in fact, my entire life," Clemens said Tuesday in a statement issued through his agent, Randy Hendricks. "Those substances represent a dangerous and destructive shortcut that no athlete should ever take. "I am disappointed that my 25 years in public life have apparently not earned me the benefit of the doubt, but I understand that Senator Mitchell's report has raised many serious questions. I plan to publicly answer all of those questions at the appropriate time in the appropriate way. I only ask that in the meantime people not rush to judgment."

Did the report say he took HGH, because HGH is technically not a steroid. This really a minor point, but I think some of these guys are playing it technical with their denials.

It's funny how a lot of the other guys are coming clean.....I respect Andy Pettite for saying whay he did, admitting he did HGH and that it was wrong...I will "give the guy a break" when he admits what he did as well...this is typical Roger...he is above everyone else and the rules NEVER apply to Roger.....you can change the uniform but not the man inside....he's a lying arrogant cheater..'
I'm sorry if the media is hounding him and his kids, but he took the praise from them when he was cheating, now he can take his medicine for getting called out for that cheating...

by the way, I would feel the same way if Ortiz, Shilling, or Tek were named....but Roger is very special in that he wanted to shove Duquette's comments back in his face anf all the faces of Red Sox fans...he is one arrogant SOB...and for him to join the Yankees and beat us under the influence is the height of arrogance....

If we are going to extrapolate and say that he was under the influence in NY, i think it is fair to say that he always used even back in college. Fact is we only have the statements in the Mitchell report which are less than fact but more than conjecture. I still think he has used some form of peds, and if you ask me has probably done alot of stuff, that is my conjecture. It has been my personal conspiracy theory that he was retiring constantly so that he could be "outside" of any testing programs. However I find it interesting that because of the lack of difinitve information we end up with "incriminating" timelines that may be convenient but are still in the mythical stages.
