Pens' power play getting complete overhaul

The powerplay started out good, but even before Sid went down they were having troubles. Just hope they don't start pressing too hard and giving up shorties like they have in the past.

As of today, there are only a few job openings with the Pittsburgh Penquins.

I'm pretty sure cheapshot headhunting little prick has been filled.

The PP was anemic even with Sid and Geno. The biggest problem was that they were always looking for the highlight reel goal...pass, pass, pass, pass pass. Sometimes it's all about firing the puck at the net and picking up the garbage.

I believe the incumbent retains the title.

Bad PP and still had the third highest point total in the league. If they work out the PP, the Pens are going to be dangerous even without Crosby.

Speaking of, I think the Pens need to enter the season on the assumption that Crosby won't be playing this year. Plan that way and if he does come back after the New Year, all the better for them.

I don't expect Sid to hit the ice until 2012. He has at LEAST another decade in him, no sense in rushing back when the team will most likely be in the top 4 in the east without him.
The problem with the PP isn't getting set up, it's that they passed the puck around and no one took a shot. They want a forward to bring the puck up with Letang on the team? The PP was already falling apart when Gonchar was on the team but at least he took the shot. That shot from the point was money, either a goal or a nice rebound opportunity.

Cooke definately takes cheapshots, and deserves his reputation.. but at least he gets punished for his actions via penalties and suspensions. The focus should be on Ovechkin...that guy is going to kill someone on the ice one day if he keeps headhunting the way he does, and he NEVER catches heat for the stuff he pulls.

...Ovie's caught a couple of suspensions. He's definitely one of the so-called "marquee" players whose reckless/nasty reputation precedes him. Especially as regards the knee-to-knee hits.

I'd say the entire league knows (as does he) that he's on a short leash.

Without players like Crosby and Malkin you should expect the pp would be a little 'off'.

Didnt know this blog was a college thesis. Everyone knows that 80% of the Penguin fan base is all bandwagon losers who started following the team after Crosby was drafted. One of the lowest teams in attendance from 2001-2005. But, you wouldnt know that your pens use to lose 7-1 night in and night out.

There are plenty of bandwagon/casual fans, but is a bandwagon fan concerned with the team a month before they play? Did you even read my first post? What came across as "bandwagon?" The Pens aren't the first team with money problems. They picked a great time to be bad and stockpile draft picks, but Chicago and Washington have also done the same.
And no, this isn't a college thesis, but since it is your first day here, no one will take you seriously when you type in ganster slang or flame. I'm done paying attention to you.
