Gilbert effectively finished with Longhorns?

08:11 AM ET 09.12 | Garrett Gilbert didn't make many new fans over the weekend, instead suffering through choruses of boos. Sad to see [Gilbert] implode in what could be his final, meaningful action as a Longhorn. For all his troubles, he still deserved better than to be showered with boos from his home crowd. Mack Brown and Bryan Harsin, in my opinion, have no choice but to start sophomore Case McCoy at UCLA -- or risk losing the entire team. ... Performance earns playing time. Gilbert has now thrown 23 interceptions and 13 touchdowns in his career with a 7-7 record as a starter, although he obviously didn't finish as the starter against BYU. Makes you wonder what the coaching staff saw in August to name Gilbert the starter.

He must be a practices well doesn't play well in games type of player.

That is the Jonathan Crompton style of QB play. He was an ace in practice and then fell apart in games.

Gilbert effectively finished the Longhorns?

Not really, the coach got him out, just in the nick of time.

The other pic of MB was better.

It's good that Mack's ego is not getting in the way here. He swore GG was the next greatest thing. At least he sees reality clearly.

He finally started listening to FJJ....

He started thinking about the millions of dollars a year this kid could cost him!

This is his "cold glare" look. When he's having to ax a starter, this is the pic they run.

Congrats to the rusted cows on the win......think last year that game was an "L" for you guys. Mack made the right personell calls and the team showed some grit to win late. Playing 18 freshman is impressive.

Would make some smart-**** comment a/b UTX = Ole Miss, but I won't.....looks like Texas is heading back in the right direction

quite possibly. He should go somewhere, sit a year and then hopefully get a shot as a 5th year senior.

Nutt ALWAYS has a spot for a transfer 5th year senior.

Gilbert has no criminal record. Nutt will not take him.

GG prob knows that, so look for him to steal some Coney Island hotdogs in the next couple of weeks, just to get qualified.

funny thing is as I watched the game I thought to myself Tx is the Ole Miss of the B12.

FJJ, as much as i like to give my UTX buddies ****, even I wouldn't seriously call this as close to being true. IMO, last year and this years rebuild is an anomoly. UTX is moving in the right direction and will be a top 10 program again soon. A couple or recruiting decisions go the other way, and you guys would have never fallen out of hte top 10 (RG 3 as QB, and you're there now, IMO). Have patience, it will come back fast.

Ole Mis.......not so much.

Now I gotta go throw up somewhere.....saying something nice a/b Texas has made me sick to my stomach
