08:18 AM ET 09.13 | The future of the Big 12 remains murky, but that didn't stop Texas from trying to keep Oklahoma on board. Two Big 12 university officials who have been briefed on the meeting said that Texas officials flew to Oklahoma on Sunday to attempt to dissuade the Sooners from their stated intent to explore joining the Pacific-12 Conference. It did not go well; the Texas officials returned to Austin and reported little progress. "It was not a productive meeting," said an administrator at a Big 12 university with knowledge of the meeting. "Texas went there with the thought of beginning the process of putting back together the Big 12, and Oklahoma wasn't as receptive as Texas had hoped. That doesn't mean it's the end of it."

So the Pac-12 gets Zero U and the SEC gets the sheep molesters? Hmm....seems a bit off to me.

Are you saying the SEC is getting the short end of the stick VFH?

you make Sheep molesters sound like a bad thing! Just think of how many sheep they will be able to molest with SEC speed!

IMO, from a football perspective, yes. But from Slives vantage, TAMU = more TV $$. From a recruiting standpoint, TAMU = more recruits than OU.

As much as I would rather see OU compete in the SEC, TAMU is a better fit for SEC's dogma of global domination

Maybe if they were in the ACC playing North Carolina!

Texas you guys are more than welcome to join the ACC as far as I am concerned. And as Staples points out in his article today you could keep the LHN. Come on down!

No worries, VT is coming to the SEC to finish 3-4th in the SEC E going forward (the equivelant of winning the ACC).
