08:09 AM ET 09.14 | The Shaq Show rolled on Monday, into a national radio appearance where Shaquille O'Neal said time has healed most of his Los Angeles wounds. Once O'Neal announced his retirement June 1 after a storied yet underachieving 19-year career, [Jerry Buss] released a statement thanking Shaq for his contributions to the Lakers' three-peat (2000-2002). The Lakers also announced they would retire his No. 34 jersey at an undetermined time. ... [Buss] has called Shaq directly about his number retirement. The same couldn't be said about former Lakers Coach Phil Jackson. Though Shaq [said Monday] that Jackson was the best coach he ever played for, Jackson apparently didn't answer Shaq's phone call when he was in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Shaq burned a lot of bridges when he was traded from LA. With his sensitive side, there were times after his departure, years after his departure that he continued to burn the ashes. If Phil took offense to Shaq's behavior, then rightfully so. Shaq should understand it was his behavior that caused the space between him and so many Lakers, once again displaying his sensitivity and placing it ahead of the very people he want to kiss his butt. He should be thankful that Jerry Buss did not take any of his comments to heart and is reaching out to retire his number.

Does it really matter that the Zen Master did not answer Shaq's call?

Maybe Phil didn't take the call because he was on the toilet?

...Although many would argue that's the best time to field a call from Shaq.

QUOTE(#1):

Apparently Phil carries grudges

Apparently Phil doesn't have time for idiots. He had to talk to him when he coached him. At this point in his life, Phil is probably not interested in having to deal with clowns like Shaq.
