Has Frank Gore lost a step?

08:03 AM ET 09.15 | Many wondered after a 59-yard, 22-carry performance whether Frank Gore seemed slower than normal. After re-watching the game tape the answer is both, 'No, I don't think so' and, 'It's hard to tell.' That's because Gore, as has been the case in recent seasons, had a hard time finding running room against a defense that was intent on stopping him. His No. 1 scourge was second-year safety Earl Thomas, whom you'll recall is the safety Pete Carroll chose in the first round last year, disappointing Taylor Mays in the process. ... [Thomas] had a game-high nine stops -- and continually flew in from the secondary to trip up Gore. Indeed, Thomas had a very Polamalu-like performance on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mays was, uhhhh... not.

Defenses will all key on Gore. He's the key to the SF running game, and they don't have a passing game worth worrying about.

Harbaugh was asked how many steps Gore had lost. In response, he tapped his hoof on the ground "one".

We'll see if Gore has lost more steps v. Romo on Sunday. I'm hoping JJ pulls the trigger and puts in Kitna. Romo great celebrity, average (at best) qb.

Why not give the rb from MSU more carries then, instead of letting him collect dust?

we're lucky it is Al Davis, but I hear they're working on the six steps ... *oops* ... lost one ... to Kevin Bacon and therefore they could post it ... more at 11 ...
