NFL headed one way. Vikes will do the opposite

08:02 AM ET 09.15 | Credit Leslie Frazier, merely a game into his first full season as a head coach, for going rogue in a copycat league. Fourteen NFL quarterbacks threw for more than 300 yards on Sunday and Monday. Two days later, the Vikings talked about staying committed to a run-oriented approach in a pass-happy era. "We got the best running back in the National Football League and we're grateful for that and we like the way our offense is structured." ... "I like the fact we got No. 28 in our backfield." Frazier said he's actually surprised more quarterbacks didn't throw for more than 300 yards on Week 1. "When you consider there were a record number of passers last year who threw for over 300 yards, it's become a trend," Frazier said.

This from a coach whose QB threw for 39 yards against the Chargers. Had McNabb shown up for that game, the Vikes would've probably won it.

The power in the NFL may be moving to the East. Does that mean the Vikings are going to be moving West? Stay tuned. Same Vike Time, same Vike Channel. California, here we come.

Sounds like a coach that realizes McNabb's capabilities.

No problem with the philosophy...

But - 39 Passing Yards?????

He's lulling the rest of the division into a false sense of security

Yeah, definitely a step up from what most of us were expecting.

... gearing up for that explosion of 115 Passing yards, I suppose.

September 15, 2011  08:26 AM ET

At this rate, it will be week 13 before McNabb throws for as many yards as Brady had in week #1.

Woah Otis lets not be talking crazy here. I was thinking more like 75-80

September 15, 2011  08:40 AM ET

With the air attack at a stand still, why not throw in the rookie QB?

September 15, 2011  08:45 AM ET

McNabb.." I don't think we're predictable"

Well, maybe yes , maybe no, but the outcome is predictable. A loss.

September 15, 2011  08:49 AM ET

Did the Vikings even have a passing offense last week? That offense was offensive.

How about. The Vikes and the Bills meet in the superbowl. Vegas refuses to take bets on the game ending in a tie

September 15, 2011  09:04 AM ET

you have to have a QB who can throw for 300 yards before you commit to an air attack, so the Vikes need to stay committed to the run game and hope they can move the ball on the ground because Mcnabb ain't going to throw half that

With a passing game that anemic (it can't be that bad can it?) the ground game is gonna be under a lot of stress. I don't think it can work well like that.

CHICO.. read the threads last night?, if not I suggest you do, everyone on here should....

I AM WAITING FOR THE APOLOGY

September 15, 2011  09:26 AM ET

They got # 28 in their backfield. Unfortunately they have # 5 as well...

September 15, 2011  09:28 AM ET

Did they save any cap money for O-lineman? Maybe they should take all receivers out of the line-up and have their "goal-line package" in there for 100% of the plays. They could run the 'ol tackle eligible.

only the football gods can help the vikings if this so-called coach keeps on with his "rogue " approach. only a fool would believe a running team could have a prayer against a passing team, especially with the vikings safeties. please tell me the vikings won't have to play the patriots. geez . or better yet ,lets get that outdoor stadium, then let the run game ONLY begin.
