Johnson partly to blame for Titans ground woes

08:04 AM ET 09.15 | Among the questions facing the Titans, in addition to wondering how to use Jared Cook, issues on defense, and whether the Ravens in Week 2 will simply bring too much their way is this: What's wrong with the running game? Is it Chris Johnson? Is it the offensive line? It's likely a combination of issues, but the Titans need to find answers in a hurry. Johnson's 24-yard total against Jacksonville was the third-lowest of his career, and it also marked the third straight game that Johnson has been held to less than 60 yards. He's gained a total of 121 yards over those three games.

Holdout = This...

September 15, 2011  08:10 AM ET

Does the contract holdout have anything to do with this? The fact that he didn't practice with the team during the limited pre-season? The prima-donna problem where other players look at the big salary and wonder if he's worth it?

Johnson-envy can tear a team apart.

Not the oline? Amazing.

Nah, they figure for what he makes he can leap tall buildings in a single bound

More money more problems.

Actually the oline is very good, CJ was just impatient last week. This week probably will be pretty tough though facing the Ravens. Hopefully, CJ and the line will be more in sync.

he talked the talk...time to walk the walk.....Ravens steamroll the Titans

What else is there to watch in Tennessee?

Yup... not exactly the week to try and get your running game in sync.

Remember the Titans? No, forget the Titans.

They were pretty good when McNair was playing

Bro, it's ez to put the digit @ CJ because he held out to get more paper from the Titans. Everybody knows if the O-Line isn't on point, the D-Line and LBs will crush Chris no matter if he's the fastest cat in the NFL.

UH that's Mr. Lewis to you, son.

I got the Titans having the worst record in the NFL this season...they got rid of the QB that gave them the best chance to win..(who im not a fan of)....and their o-line is garbage..

the only way the titans could win is with either a mobile QB (Jake Locker)...or Barry Sanders

September 15, 2011  08:54 AM ET

very rarely after a guy holds-out and then signs the big contract do's he live up to it or he gets hurt, so iguess instead of ck2 he will be called ck.950

September 15, 2011  09:02 AM ET

he got his money ... no need to be productive anymore ...

September 15, 2011  09:04 AM ET

The criticism is only going to get worse, because it's a no brainer for a defense to know who's getting the ball here.

September 15, 2011  09:04 AM ET

I think if he gets another $25 or $30 million he can get that yardage total up to 40 yards a game. More seriously, I don't think ANY back can do it alone very often. Without other offensive threats, a better passing game and a decent line he's doomed to have, at best, a mediocre year. He's a potentially great back. But not there.
