08:37 AM ET 09.15 | 'Tis the season for annual golf outings in the NHL -- unless you're Teemu Selanne. [Anaheim] Players and team officials congregated at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine for the 17th annual Ducks Golf Classic. ... The Ducks report for physicals Friday and begin training camp workouts Saturday. [Selanne], the leading scorer in franchise history, did not show up for the charity tournament, as he had promised when I ran into him recently at Del Mar Race Track. Not a good sign, though several of his teammates told me they expect him to start working out with the team Saturday, likely on a pro tryout, as he tries to determine whether his surgically repaired left knee is strong enough to play one final season in the NHL.

Don't think so. He'll retire if he doesn't go back to Anaheim.

As I said two days ago, taking a page directly from the Brett Fa*** retirement book. Who needs training camp? They sound so boring.

Best FN photo of all time. :-)

He should hang 'em up while he's ahead. What more does he have to prove by coming back?

But here's a good sign.

Looking at what he did last year, he can definitely make a huge difference to that team if he is healthy. He needs training camps about as much as Mario did. I wouldn't sweat yet.

Awesome sign. Last week up in the northern part of Alta a buddy and i were pleased to see a small butcher shop out in the middle of nowhere. We bought up some pork jerky and giggled like school girls at the sign on the exterior wall........."Get your meat smoked here" The jerky was world class but we did not receive quite that level of "service"

LOL - when I lived in Sacramento there was a place called Sweet Meats. Good enough on it's own but they sold t-shirts that said, "You can't beat our meat."

So he doesn't show up for a golf outing. Veterans don't report until Saturday. Another non-story story.

Yes. Plus, the guy's trying to rehab from major knee-surgery at 41 years-old....I think he might have other priorities, if he's working to hit the ice for the 2011-2012 season.
