08:29 AM ET 09.15 | Georgia, Boise State and Maryland come to mind when talking about radically different uniforms. When will Alabama go that route? Never, as long as Nick Saban is the Crimson Tide's coach. The subject of uniforms came up in Saban's news conference following Wednesday's practice. It gave him a chance to reiterate feelings that he expressed last season before Alabama made minimal changes when it wore special Nike Pro Combat uniforms for its home game against Mississippi State. "I think what we wear is a lot bigger than me, and a lot bigger than anyone," Saban said. "It's what everybody's expectation is of what they want to see when Alabama plays football and what they're used to seeing."

No traditional school will change its Unis... Pro Combat is a 1 game thing that Nike and the School use to make $$$$$...I know most LUS fans who have a COW is LUS change theirs... Heck we dont even like wearing the purple jerseys..

this would shake things up...LUS busting out yellow jerseys with purple & white stripes...and rock purple pants. would be sweet under the lights at Tiger Stadium.

For once, I stand with Satan. This slick-wild-cuttingedge look is only occasionally good, most of the time it's as ugly as a monkey frakking a football.

Stick to your guns on this, Mr. Saban.

at least wash them.Nice to know not everyone is jumping on the <hitty new uniform bandwagon. f ing Nike and UA are killing traditional unis as much as Tx is killing CFB.

You are freaking hilarious. I like your "shot" at Tx :)

LUS what will your name be tomorrow after the upset?

September 15, 2011  09:49 AM ET

Wouldn't mind seeing my tigers rock a Purple helmet for a game. just to try it out. bet that could look sick.. nothing against the traditional one. love it. just think it would be pretty sick for a purlple one.

BYU was a test bed for Nike in 1999-2000. The dreaded "bib" unis - puke. When Mendenhall was hired, he re-aligned the program to emphasize the tradition that his predecessor tried to bury, and brought back the classic uniform that every knew from the '80s.

But he did agree to change the shade of blue.

You do have to give it up to the people at UnderArmor though; they're creative!

so true. traditional schools don't need the gimmicks. leave that to the schools clamoring for some kind of attention

Don't change the uniforms and Mr. Saban don't change your suit either.

The Alabama players will eventually change their uniforms. They will go from their traditional uniforms to bright orange uniforms with department of corrections, printed in block lettering, on the back.

Leave Jimmy Johns out of this. He is bettering himself and has paid his debt to society :)
