Is Turner too nice for Chargers?

08:03 AM ET 09.16 | By most accounts, Norv Turner is an excellent guy. Nice man, smart coach. He's probably one of the greatest offensive play-callers of his generation. Sadly, he is far too easily satisfied and, as the head coach of the San Diego Chargers, that's a problem. ... [In Dallas, Jimmy] Johnson was always applying the pressure to get the most out of people. Johnson was never satisfied. He never embraced good; he pushed for great. Sadly, Turner hasn't learned that lesson, and one has to wonder if the Chargers will ever overcome New England in an important game. It may be only Week 2 and seemingly premature to discuss playoff scenarios and title runs. But if San Diego is ever going to get to where it wants to go, it has to begin winning meaningful games against the Patriots.

Not gonna happen this Sunday!

San Diego has coasted into the playoffs for years by living in the Mild, Mild AFC West. Last year they couldn't rise to the challenge of Kansas City or even Oakland. They've lost some marquee players. They beat the Vikings by a whopping 7 points, despite that great 59-yard passing performance by some old coot the Vikings hired to replace the last old coot.

Why this team is always rated as a contender is beyond me.

I'm going to follow Tom Brady's advice and start drinking early.

You need good leaders in the locker room to get away with being a nice guy HC. Norv is screwed until his QB grows up.

as a Skins' fan, I gotta wonder....is Norv Turner a crappy coach or was Snyder just too meddlesome to let Turner succeed here?

Week #2... make or break game ??? Good luck with that, Patriots by 21

He's a good OC but he's got as much fire as the "cupcake".

Take the over. If Henne could throw for almost 400 yards on the Pats, then Rivers has to be looking forward to this game too.

Don't expect them to play the same scheme they did Monday night.

Or play the same kind of team. The Charger passing game is capable of moving the ball on anybody.

But can they effectively block both Wilfork and Haynesworth? Albert forced at least one throwaway Monday night by dragging a double-team along with him towards Henne. I think he drew a holding call, too.

Per Norv... until he rewrites his history this label is pinned to him.

Per this weekend's game... Beware the Bolts...

They are without a doubt the most talented team to never win a superbowl

Does it really matter? Peter King is a moron for putting this team in the superbowl.... and all these people saying go patriots, yeah you prolly have the offensive player of the year on your team and maybe an MVP if Rodgers doesn't get it.. but damn you sure have secondary problems, that ain't gonna fly in the playoffs against pittsburgh or the jets

And there is that part of it all. The media moguls have told us how good the players are for years. Add in a GM who tells everybody what a draft genius he is and they were always partly truth and partly fiction all you pilgrims.

Haynesworth might eat himself out of the starting lineup eventually.

I've made my share of Fat Albert jokes, and I'm not ready to let him off the hook yet, but he is better shape than when he showed up for training camp. Remember, he's only two years on from being a top-ranked player.

Obviously the Steelers have seondary issues as well. I think Joe Flacco exposed them big time. As for the Jets, it's pretty much Cromartie's fault....lol
