08:13 AM ET 09.16 | Mariano Rivera's Metallica entrance has always seemed somewhat incongruous for such a pleasant presence in the clubhouse. [As] the Yankees' closer approaches the all-time saves mark, he admits he doesn't even listen to the song. "I never said that I didn't like it, but I didn't care about the song," Rivera said. "I didn't pick the song. I don't pay attention to the music. When I go in there, I'm going to business." ... Attending the Padres' run to the World Series in San Diego back in 1998, members of the Yankees' upper brass saw how enthusiastically the crowd reacted when Hoffman entered to AC/DC. ... "The Yankees executives who were there saw the great entrance and said, 'Wow, we need something like that for Mo,'" [Michael Bonner] said.

Rumor has it Rivera originally wanted a Blondie song.

A guy like him brings excitement in on his own, he doesn't need junk like theme music.

Sandman isn't so bad. He generally puts the hitters to sleep.

Although he would never turn down a bit of Salsa

September 16, 2011  09:51 AM ET

every super hero needs his own them music. If Shaft had his, then Mo definitely deserves it.

I never paid attention to the music until they started playing Sandman when Mo came into the game. Seemed cool because it signaled the doom that the batter was about to experience.
I like how ready Mo is to do the job and how focused he is. He typically comes in and throws strikes like all great relievers do. Eckersley comes to mind in that regard too. Before you know it...strike one, strike two and it's advantage Rivera.

Mariano is a bad mother you know what when he's going to business in the 9th Inning.

Not Blondie for Mo, that's Burnett that wants to enter to Heart Of Glass.

September 16, 2011  10:47 AM ET

No kidding? Mariano RIVERA didn't hand pick a Metallica song for his entrance music.

This just in, the sky is blue today.

In my fantasy, I enter the game to "Thunderstruck" or "Shoot to Thrill".

He didn't choose the song? Jiminy **** Christmas, can it be true? Thanks but no thanks. I've read many a comment knocking insipid posts in the past, but I never agreed as much as I do now.

Try telling that to Lars Ulrich while he's adding up royalty checks.

In mine it's "Lights Out" by UFO.

I think Triple H's entrance song is perfect for Mariano. Just think about it.
