Did Minnesota officials 'spin' Kill's condition?

09:26 AM ET 09.18 | Jerry Kill suffered a seizure last Saturday against New Mexico State. We were told it was the result of a condition he's had for the past half-dozen or so years. We also were told, via news releases from the university's sports information department, that Kill was doing just great from the moment he entered the hospital. Nothing to worry about, the regular updates said. This has happened before and the doctors simply are regulating his medication. He's out of bed and turning cartwheels and working out with a hula hoop. No big deal. In fact, Kill continued to suffer seizures while in the hospital. He mentioned after Saturday's 29-23 win over Miami (Ohio) that one of the toughest parts of last week was trying to communicate with his coordinators on Tuesday while he was in the hospital. Two things we found out Saturday: This condition is more serious than we thought. And we won't receive honest information from university officials with regard to Kill's health. I don't know if they are worried about ticket sales, recruiting or what, but clearly they will release propaganda to suit their own interests. Apparently, they did not count on Kill being honest.

Sounds just like all the rest of 'em...not just Minne.

I hope the guy is back to 100% soon. Very scary stuff.

The last thing anyone wants to do is give factual information to a journalist so it can be distorted.

I agree. Unfortunately, when you accept a "high profile" position, the frcikin' press feels like they have open season rights on you. Sad and sickening.

+1. Besides, its typical that the OC and DC do more in-game anyway.

"Apparently, they did not count on Kill being honest." --- As if Kill was doing all the spin doctoring, if that is indeed the case. Libel much, St. Paul Pioneer Press?

I'm left wondering If Coach Kill made full disclosure about his health to the Minny AD before he was hired. If so, that's the risk the school took, ticket sales and recruiting be damned. If not, can Minny terminate Kill's contract?

What if he makes them into a winner. They already have almost beaten USC...granted a USC that's not at its normal strength but nonetheless in Minney's first game! And you, in your infinite wisdom and full of empathy, want Kill to get fired. Dang, you must be related to Donald Trump, LOL!

If he ends up braindead, he'll be a shoe-in to replace Neuhisel.

Next UCLA thread in about 2 hours, I bet.

UCLA is certainly screwing over USC's SOS this year. With ND 1-2, ASU losing to Illinois, Oregon losing to LSU, and MINN losing to NMSU USC won't have as much of a chance to truly stand out since they can't go bowling. Its too bad, as they are a fun team to watch this year-the long balls vs Cuse in the 2nd half of that game were things of beauty.

UCLA? They're the #8 team in the Pac-10 for the last several years, and now that it's the Pac-12, I guess they'll move on up to #10. Since USC isn't bowl eligible, who cares about SOS. But if you do, including ASU next week, USC's first 4 opponents will combine for a 7-2 collective record (outside of their match-up against USC), I don't think anyone in CFB has faced a more accomplished foursome in the month of September, except perhaps Charlie Sheen and Hugh Heffner.
