09:51 AM ET 09.18 | No final decisions have been made on the contract options for Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona. Here's what I believe the Indians will do: They will pick up Sizemore's $9 million option. Carmona's $7 million is not as certain, but the odds favor him returning.

The Indians can't afford to pick up a $9M option on a player who's been injured for the last 2.5 years. It's a shame, but they need to pass. Maybe they can sign him at a lower rate?

Yeah, I hear you......but he might be more valuable to them as a tradable bat next deadline, rather than letting him/ walk for nothingThe mets got a good pitc hing prospect for beltranHe'd of course have to stay healthy for at least 5 minutes though...lol

I agree with you most of time - but in this case... Sizemore is Done...

And you can't pick up an Option on a guy hoping to trade him if he's always injured...

They'd end up eating the whole contract and getting a very low level prospect.

I say decline the option and hope to sign him on the rebound.

could the indians get a draft pick if they let sizemore walk away? or they have to pick the 9 millions option in order for the indians to get a draft pick? about carmona 7 millions its not a big amount plus this pitcher could develope to a better pitcher in a number three spot in the indians rotation!!

since sizemore its a injuried-prone the indians have very little hope in this player, best thing to do let him walk away perhaps if he could sign with a different team in a different city his luck may change while avoiding any more injuries!!

In my opinion if its one or the other the Indians need to let Sizemore go and retain Carmona. Grady has not proved he can stay healthy these past couple years so its a gamble if he could make it through next season.

As for Fausto, he showed up this season out of shape and not ready to compete on a team that was. If you watched him pitch you saw him sweating buckets and laboring through the mid innings when he should not have. Even though he was out of shape he didn't pitch too bad considering that his run support was usually never there.

I would take Fausto and let Sizemore go to whoever wants him because its harder to find a decent pitcher with playoff experience than a 4 tool center fielder. Any way you cut it they both are a gamble but I think Fausto would be less than Grady.

But who says the Indians don't step up and make an offer to both of them?? They both have big upsides when healthy and in shape and they both puts fans in the stands.

The Indians have plenty of depth in the OF. Letting Grady go wouldn't be a big loss, especially given his injury reports. Still, they should low ball him. See if he'll consider a 1 yr, $5M offer.

BREAKING NEWS FROM CLEVELAND...

The Indians organization has announced that starting next season they will in fact become competitive almost overnight when they drop down to the minors. The unexpected decision was finally made public when an unnamed source close to the organization overheard owner Larry Dolan say..."It will be a cold day in hell before I give any current or future Indian a good contract."

The suprising announcement forced the Akron Aeros to put out a statement saying that the Indians are in fact not allowed to use Canal Park in downtown Akron for any games and suggested they ask the Lake Erie Crushers of the Indy League if they can use their field instead.

the red sox will have to win the rest of the games in the schudle, baltimore has being playing the role of a spoiler in the last five series, took two out of three from the yankees, two out of three from the rays, two out of three from the angels,

September 18, 2011  10:07 PM ET

if the cards are really serious about being competetors, then they will need to go through the phillies first!!

September 18, 2011  10:10 PM ET

the halos will considered to try to sign david ortiz to a two years deal, angels should trade morales for josh johnson, last resort should be trying to sign pujols to a five years deal!!

the angels GM has being a very dificult bump to remove from the angels franchise, the halos minor system its soo thin. thanks to the GM, the franchise lacks in pitching prospects, lacks in out/infielders prospects, and the major league team lacks in power hitters, wonder which could be the GM excuse to all this holes?

Thanks for the update on every other team other than the topic of this T&R. I was really wondering what the Red Sox, Cards and Halos were going to do but not I have this knowledge and believe I am prepared to discuss this topic with their fanbases.

Swing and a miss. On topic. I agree with the first poster. If Grady has 9 mil coming to him, he's probably worth about 4.5 since he rarely lasts more than half a season.

Not even. He really hasn't done all that much in his career, even when healthy.
