Did Cubs miss out on Sandberg?

09:46 AM ET 09.18 | Ryne Sandberg has managed five minor league seasons, and delivered only one losing record in his four with the Cubs. He took Double-A Tennessee to the Southern League championship series in 2009 and went 82-62 with Triple-A Iowa in 2010. Some in Philadelphia believe he's a likely successor to Charlie Manuel as the Phillies' manager -- just as many in Chicago thought he would get the job that went to Mike Quade last fall. But Manuel plans to manage at least another two years, and Ruben Amaro Jr. expects a major league team to nab Sandberg before then.

It's still not too late for the Cubs to nab him when they land their new GM. Might as well.

At least Ryno would be able to bring back some "feel good" losses....

Charlie will get the Phillies win record (he needs three more to take it over from Gene Mauch). Two more years.... I can see one more but then the Phils nucleus is getting in the mid-thirties. Play should diminish and then major changes. I don't think he is going to want to be there for that second year. I can see one more then Ryno in as mgr.

sandberg should have being the cubs manager, that quade deal was wrong from the start, if the cubs are thinking to really become better team and competetive in the pennat, then they need to bring a better manager!!

the race for the playoff spot in the east its in a limbo, in one way the red sox are lose with their rotation and hitting, in the other side the rays had being conssistent as a team, their pitching has show some life, but they still lack in definition a team needs to increase their offense as well their pitching, all in all the reds should overcome those slumps where they had being, unless the red sox turn things around or else it will be useless for this franchise to make it to the playoffs, the red sox could be eliminated in the first round!!

I think they are too stupid to make the right move. They should've fired Pinella about 3, 4 years before he retired.
