08:01 AM ET 09.19 | Peyton Manning's attempts to recover for the season reportedly took him overseas. Manning traveled to Europe for stem cell therapy that is currently not approved in the United States as he made a last-ditch effort to stave off further surgery on his neck in September, according to a report on Fox's pre-game show. Manning, 35, missed the Colts' opener against the Houston Texans last week after undergoing his third surgery in 19 months because the stem cell treatment did not work. The Colts deemed the surgery "uneventful" and called the ensuing rehabilitation process "involved." They did not provide a timeline for his recovery, but he is expected to miss two to three months, and it is uncertain whether he will return this season.

"Stem cell therapy" must be the latest euphemism for hash brownies and prostitutes.

Not good....

I think it's safe to say that 2012 is the earliest we see him in uniform again...

If at all.

Manning is proof that a team's success can weigh on one player. Dang, they look bad.

Right now he is leading the MVP race because we now know how valuable he is to his team!

A couple weeks ago my Browns didn't stand a chance against the Colts.

Yup...

They might not be the worst team in the league (I still say the Chiefs have that wrapped up right now) but they are damn sure in the discussion.

Very poorly written article..." Manning, 35, missed the Colts' opener against the Houston Texans last week after undergoing his third surgery in 19 months because the stem cell treatment did not work. " The stem cell treatment or the second surgery??

I hope he gets better, >>>awesome competitor

A friend of mine had this. He's suffering from congestive heart failure. He had blood drawn here, and then they shipped the blood to Israel where they extracted his stem cells and cultured them to make lots more. Then he went to the Dominican Republic, where they injected the cells into his heart muscle. Since it's not "approved," he had to pick up the tab, hence the choice of the Dominican Republic.

He was in a wheelchair before the procedure, because his heart didn't have the strength to pump enough blood to let him walk. The last time I saw him, he had driven to the restaurant for our get-together and was up and walking and enjoying himself fully. Not saying he's ready to suit up for the Colts, but the procedure has improved the quality of life for him, and probably added several years as well.

Logically both, since he needed a third operation

I thought he had 2 operations, and the stem cell therapy was to try to prevent a third, can anybody clarify this?

3 operations... the stem cells procedure didn't prevent the 3rd one.

Well, the stem cells come from your own blood, not fetal tissue, but yeah, just saying "stem cell" is like waving red meat in front of those characters. Incinerate first, ask de lawd for forgiveness later.
