08:17 AM ET 09.19 | Is the ACC 14 going on 15 ... or 16? UConn president Susan Herbst is aggressively pursuing membership in the ACC to become the 15th or 16th member institution in the conference, according to a source with direct knowledge of UConn's situation. According to the source, Herbst was having conversations recently but in light of Pittsburgh's and Syracuse's defections from the Big East, the talks have accelerated in the last 48 hours. In a statement earlier Sunday, Herbst said that although UConn was "a proud charter member of the Big East" the school was staying "actively involved in discussions with our counterparts from around the country to ensure the successful long-term future of our university's athletic program."

Why not a PAC 32 and ACC 32. That's two huge superconferences.

They want to be the first to learn how to dribble a football.

QUOTE(#15):

The first school to start screeching about how terrible things were, and how they were gonna change conferences, was the the Mizzou Whinybutts. They just couldn't get an invite anywhere else............. And it's all Texas' fault. Evil, greed, arrogance, ............ and hot dogs.

True, but the first "moves" were the ones I mentioned weren't they?

It seems the only teams looking to join the ACC are Big East teams who see the writing on the wall. Good move by the ACC to ensure they were not the ones getting poached.

If 4 of those Big12 schools really do join the Pac12, it will be very interesting to see what the SEC, B1G and ND do. Personally, I liked all the 12 team conferences.

September 19, 2011  09:32 AM ET

My favorites teams are from the Big East but TCU may want to reconsider the move, if they can legally, to the Big East now and maybe join the Pac 10 or SEC.

See ya Big East. ACC is being very proactive in this. Props to them. This may force Notre Dame to join the Big 10.
