08:20 AM ET 09.19 | What happens now for a school such as West Virginia? The conclusion of a brief courtship [between the ACC and Syracuse] jeopardizes the future of the Big East and all its leftover members, including West Virginia. "I believe things will be all right," said Drew Payne, chair of WVU's Board of Governors. "How it's going to end up, how it's going to come down, I don't think we know what that will be, but we will be in one of the major conferences that survive." WVU representatives spent Sunday on the phone calling around to evaluate the landscape as well as all possibilities and the potential of each. One source said the Mountaineers had conversations with the ACC and the Southeastern Conference.

Do you SEC guys want WVa?

September 19, 2011  08:55 AM ET

Obviously WVU lacks focus.

I don't want WVU in the SEC. Not that a lot of the SEC teams are academic powerhouses, but it seems whenever a recruit cannot make the grades, they end up at WVU.

QUOTE(#7):

not sure what their options are now that the 'ACC is pulling the trigger first. Between Pitt and Syr plus a new $20 million exit fee they were smart to jump first and soldify their conference.

Will the MWC take TCU back?

Boy was their timing bad.

September 19, 2011  09:14 AM ET

Missouri would make a good fit, however. And if the ACC has all their teams locked down (ending the debate of adding Va Tech/Clemson/FSU etc, then I am not sure where else the SEC goes after that.

September 19, 2011  09:16 AM ET

Perhaps the SEC could add North Alabama and reunite with all the former SEC players that got kicked off their teams for breaking various laws.

I hope they come back-if so AQ status looks pretty good.

If they would bury the hatchet and bring Baylor, Kansas, K-State, etc with them, that might be a better conference than some of the other ones being mentioned.

Is 13 an okay number?

September 19, 2011  09:24 AM ET

I have no issues with WVa. It's like the girl who is always waiting for Mr. Right. He never comes along and they end up old maids.

14 with WVU, VT, or Missouri works better.

The SEC seems to be sitting at 13 with A&M right now. Adding Missouri would be 14. Is 14 an okay number? Dunno, ask Mr. Slive.

Of course I prefer FSU or VT... But thats not going to happen looks like..WVU would prob be next.. But I prefer TCU... And I dont ant Misery..Get 14 and stay there...13 is only a 1 year thing.. scheduling nightmare to continue past 1 year

The H.O.R.N.Y. Toads have a small stadium. (But it will be nice when finished.) Is that okay?
