If Collins isn't the answer ... is Favre?

08:03 AM ET 09.19 | These weeks haven't been kind Colts fans, who may be ready for something drastic. The next time Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tweets about visiting Hattiesburg, Miss., here's hoping he's not joking around. Seriously, what's there to lose at this point with the Indianapolis Colts' season swirling -- having swirled -- hopelessly down the drain with Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Cleveland Browns? Why not try something a little crazy and see if Brett Favre is interested in dismounting his tractor and taking over the Colts offense? What was once a Twitter joke now looks like a semi-reasonable option, at least if the Colts can figure out some way to make it work with the salary cap.

I knew this was coming. Favre isn't the answer, and he shouldn't even be a question.

The Colts aren't gonna find a fill-in that can do anything close to what Manning does in that offense. Collins is lighting it up, but he isn't the problem, either.

Stop it.

*Collins isN'T lighting it up. Sigh. Thanks, monday morning.

Collins hasn't ever really lit it up anywhere... Don't know what they were expecting.

It's the Colts' own fault. They have never tried to find or develop a decent backup for Peyton.

They've basically developed their offense around one specific player. You can't plug in another player to replace the guy who IS the system.

I think this pretty much points out how big a part of the Colts Manning is. Not just as a QB but as the defacto OC and team leader. No Peyton, no Colts

Mark my words. The Superbowl will be in Indianapolis.

On the other hand, Indianapolis will not be in the Superbowl.

Yup, the road to the Superbowl goes to Indy, not thru Indy.

Is there a reason that this team seems to refuse to entertain the idea of signing David Garrard? Too Pricey? Too familiar (AFC South)? Designs on a returning Manning, with a high draft pick (maybe that RB, he needs?)? A coke habit that I'm unaware of? Someone help me out on this.

JDR said yesterday he was forced to release Garrard because the guy had played his way into third-string and made too much money for the backup's backup. How is a guy who let Luke McCown take his job much better than Collins?

Peyton has masked a lot of the weaknesses of the Colts for years. They need to just take their beatings this year, use those early picks in each round wisely, shed some vets and move on.
This is actually a good thing for the rest of Peytons career, hard to get the players you need drafting late in each round.

Another old guy? No....next question!

Manning is the Colts, without him, well you can see the results...

The Colts better get Favre or Carson Palmer in the mix b/c Kerry isn't getting it done. The defense is lousy as well. Peyton is the whole darn team and the head coach is clueless about what to do to get a winner on the field.

They're just going to tank the season and draft Luck.
