Underwhelming Landry still in Heisman hunt?

08:17 AM ET 09.19 | According to the box score, Landry Jones did not dazzle this weekend. Numbers are funny that way, though. They're so stark, failing to paint the picture of the intricacies of a game such as the top-ranked Sooners' do-what's-necessary 23-13 victory Saturday night at No. 5 Florida State. Jones' line -- 18 for 27 for 199 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions -- says he was average, at best. But that's like reading the Cliffs Notes for Macbeth and saying you came to understand the complex beauty of Shakespeare's prose. Jones did not win the Heisman on Saturday. Not by any means. But he did not lose it, either. In fact, he had one of those "moments" pundits are always squawking about as resume builders.

Good, but the best player in the nation? No way-don't think he is the best player on his team.

We have to wait until the end of the year to find out who the best player in the nation is...and then eliminate him because he is not playing for one of the national title contenders.

He's probably playing QB in Waco.

Or tSUN, or BSU, or RB at Bama or SCAR.

All are better players than LJ.

Exactly.

Down to LJ playing the role of Torretta. Don't get me wrong, Torretta and LJ are/were decent college QB's, but postseason awards shouldn't be participation trophies.

RG3 go 10-2.... And put up the numbers against UTx and OU... He will be a factor...

I like your optimism and faith in mankind doing the right thing. I think he could put up all world numbers against those two and still not get a sniff! But I'm just old, cynical, pessimistic and tarnished because I've seen injustices for too many years.
