08:15 AM ET 09.19 | Rockies fans can hope to chalk 2011 up as a forgotten season. [The Rockeies] want to believe they aren't far away from contending. They want to believe this perfect storm of carnage is traced to devastating injuries, bad luck, lacking mental toughness and mind-bending regression by third baseman Ian Stewart. Fans are disappointed. Players are frustrated. To get back into the National League West hunt, the Rockies have two choices: a) they can spend money on a free-agent slugger such as Michael Cuddyer or Josh Willingham or b) use all their resources to bolster their rotation. The Rockies would love to add Cuddyer, a right-handed slugger, to lengthen the lineup and provide a calming presence with runners in scoring position.

When your fondest dream is to sign Cuddyer or Willingham...why don't they just go for broke and sign a big name like, say, Wily Mo Pena?

I'd rather have Jermaine Dye. Much more power and a decent fielder. You cant have Cuddyer so forget it.

I dont think hitting's their problem. It's pitching. Bolster ur rotation somehow. The offense is there with Tulo and Car-Go. If they can play some defense and pitch like SF or Dbacks this year they'll be fine.

why even post this? I mean really....why? A team that has so much stink on it, playoffs around the corner, some wild cards getting close and you want to post an article on a stink *(# team like the Rockies about NEXT year? C'mon Man.
