08:07 AM ET 09.19 | The road to green-lighting an arena in downtown Sacramento may be paved with a green card. A little-known federal program that offers green cards to wealthy immigrants who invest in job-creating enterprises could become an important piece in the financing package for the proposed $387 million arena. The immigration program, known as EB-5, wouldn't pay for the whole project and is just one of several revenue sources advocated by Mayor Kevin Johnson's arena task force. But the amount of EB-5 money "can be substantial," said Dan Barrett, a Manhattan Beach sports-finance consultant advising the Sacramento arena effort. The program has been around for about 20 years and has encountered some controversy.

Here's a novel idea! Since the players are making millions of dollars, why don't they pay for the for the new arenas.

yah, except that citizenship has always been for sale, and that their 'investment' in the stadium gives them nothing in return. It's an extension of an already existing plan...except that now the money will go towards building a badsketball stadium so that the NBA can put on their little spectacle...instead of, you know, going to social programs and|or reducing your taxes.

QUOTE(#4):

Technically speaking, american indians immigrated here during the end of the last ice age from asia over the frozen bering sea to alaska and north america.....so they too are immigrants......just sayin

Technically, all the land masses were one in the begining, then drifted. So technically, it's a none issue. NEXT!
