A simmering dispute between cable-television providers and NFL Network heated up Wednesday with threats of lawsuits and congressional action to determine which viewers can watch Thursday- and Saturday-night football games. The issue erupted after Comcast made NFL Network's Broncos-Texans game last Thursday night available to all its Colorado customers through KWGN-Channel 2's broadcast of the game.

don king for commissioner of the nfl

December 20, 2007  09:22 AM ET

Agreed, Rhodes.

This is getting out of control. With all of the money made from ads, sports wear, tickets, $8 beers, etc., it really shouldn't be that big of a deal to let the general public see whatever game they want on whatever provider they have.

December 20, 2007  09:51 AM ET

It is more complicated than that. Plus for those who don't have Comcast, Comcast is starting to take huge losses in profit so they are tyring to increase prices to make up. The problem is that more and more people are leaving instead.

I do hope you're not comparing Don King with Jerry Jones...that would be unfair to King

I'll tell ya what is rediculous. Living in Canada, we can honestly see "the best NFL game" of the week. They will put it on TSN, or CBS, or NBC, we normally have 3 games on television (2 being good, the 3rd being the bills game haa). Sayin that, we can see any NFL game we want, but we cant see the NHL games cause they get blacked out. I dont get it Canada is hockey-country and we dont get the games, USA is NFL-country and you dont get the games. and im sure you get NHL games. Something is seriously wrong. Without the FANS the NFL, and any other league has NOTHING. Put your FANS first

December 20, 2007  10:41 AM ET

I dont mind the games on NFL network, but please GOD please, get rid of Brian Gumble. His voice is so irritating. I couldnt tell you how many times he said the "Green Bay Cowboys" during the packers cowboys game.

December 20, 2007  10:42 AM ET

Hey Rhodes

It will be the Cowboys and Packers on Pay Per View

December 20, 2007  11:02 AM ET

the NFL network needs a new crew...having Chris and Bryant up there suxs. Two white pompass A holes in the same box is killing me!

December 20, 2007  11:12 AM ET

Morg, so true. He always gets players names wrong too. And I hate when they put Collinsworth in the both with him. Chris never says anything that isn't a buttocks kissing comment. This duo is so nice, its boring.

The NFL Network has great personalities in the studio all day long and drops the ball at game time. The Game crew of pick 3: Sanders, Dukes Mariucci, Woodson, Wilcots, Eisen, or etc. would be a mile better than Gumble & Collinsworth.

TheMorg - Hey Rhodes

It will be the Cowboys and Packers on Pay Per View

+The Cowboys are Packers are in the same conference dumbie, they cant play eachother in the superbowl+

December 20, 2007  12:03 PM ET

My bad....I meant the Cowboys and Patriots. Thats what happens when you dont read over what you write.

December 20, 2007  12:16 PM ET

Haha Funny thing is morg, is I typed in Patriots vs Cowboys, then hit backspace and put the packers. Personally I think it will be the cowboys, at heart, i would love to see farve get back to the bowl. And as much as i wanna see a perfect season, there would be nothing more perfect than seeing Farve break all these records, end the Pats perfect season, only to retire on top. Where he belongs!!

December 20, 2007  12:30 PM ET

Cox carries the channel in my area...I only pay an extra 2 bucks for the "free" HD lineup, which its part of. So I can't complain. Feel bad for everyone who is getting screwed by this, though.

December 20, 2007  12:54 PM ET

Well if the Cowboys keep playing the way they have played they have over the last couple of weeks then the Packers could make it. I think the Cowboys have the most weapons to beat the patriots though. I can just imaging if the NFL network showed the superbowl and Bryant Gumble did the trophy presentation to the MVP (will say its Tom Brady), he would probably call him Tom Favre. God I hate that guy.

December 20, 2007  02:35 PM ET

kudos to comcast..... iffin UUUUU to the NFL!!!!!!!

December 20, 2007  02:40 PM ET

in reality the nfl network got to go.... we are talking monopoly rules here and the nfl on it's infinite greed is preparing us to the day they can announce play-offs are pay per view!!!!!! super-bowl???? pay per view... it it happened in boxing.... out of greed by certain promoter..... no need to mention.... it can happen to football too... if we let them.... don't watch nfl network.... don't buy nfl network package.... don't visit nfl.net.... boycot to the greedy!!!!!!

December 20, 2007  05:11 PM ET

It's not the NFL in control of who gets to watch the NFL Network channel. It's Comcast trying to cash in on the NFL. The NFL loses ratings because not as many people are watching the game and the cable company loses customers because various satellite companies offer the NFL Network channel along with their basic package. If you have Comcast you have to order the "sports package" to get the NFL Network channel. Basically you have to pay for about 10 channels or so to watch the one you want. The sports package contains a bunch of "borderline" sports that I could care less about. Give me a sports package that consists of NFL, NBA, Boxing and MMA. I would be happy to pay a few extra bucks for that.

December 20, 2007  05:47 PM ET

It appears that the NFL Network has enough evidence to let Gumble go.

What a joke. Cable sux...NFL sux.
