Bayno walked when Portland balked

08:10 AM ET 09.20 | In Portland, if you're an assistant, you're on a one-year deal, something that made Bill Bayno's decision understandable. The Minnesota Timberwolves and new coach Rick Adelman offered the former Blazers assistant coach a four-year contract -- three more years than the Blazers would offer -- and a difficult decision became a no-brainer for Bayno. ... "My first choice was to stay and I did everything in my power to do that. But in the end, I had to take this offer. It was too good to pass up." As a general policy under the current management, the Blazers do not offer assistant coaches more than one-year contracts on a year-to-year basis. Coach Nate McMillan lobbied on Bayno's behalf when the Timberwolves' interest surfaced, but the Blazers were unwilling to budge on a multi-year offer.

Well it's Portland's loss. that team is going down hill anyways. That team had so much potential but they just fizzled out. They're no longer a young team and they have accomplished little if anything in the past few seasons. It may be time to break up that team and start all over

You know what really must be painful? Being a Hawks fan. You guys let Bulls fans take over your arena in the playoffs last year. That's pathetic. Who would want to play there? The Hawks should be relocated to Seattle.

You're a moron. Portland is still one of the youngest teams in the NBA. Break up a team with LaMarcus Aldridge, Nic Batum, B-Roy,Gerald Wallace,Wes Matthews and G.O? You wish. None of those guys maybe with the exception of Wallace have even hit their prime yet. And they got younger by swapping Andre Miller for Ray Felton. Even when being crippled by injuries this team wins 50 games. So without the injuries your looking at a 60 win team. The lockout only helps team like Portland and Golden State get healthy. If healthy the Blazers will be competing for the top spot in the west and the Warriors will easily make the playoffs.
