08:27 AM ET 09.20 | The Rangers confirmed that defenseman Marc Staal will miss nearly all on-ice training camp activities because of post-concussion symptoms that have persisted. No one feels any worse about that situation than Eric Staal. It was his big hit on his brother in a Feb. 22 game at the RBC Center that caused the concussion and also left Marc Staal with a knee injury. "It's difficult. It's difficult for me and difficult for him," Eric Staal said [Monday]. "It's one of those situations that's kind of scary. You obviously don't want to hurt somebody, especially when it's your own family." ... Marc Staal missed three games after the injuries but did play for the Rangers down the stretch last season.

Does anybody know if Burkie has siblings?

True that- but it does make picking teams for the pick up football game somewhat simpler :-)

Thinking about it, it would be hard to face your brother after that, but worst of all you'd have to face your Mom.

He had to have known it was Marc right as he was lining him up...instead of bodying him into the boards he decided to absolutely level him. He should feel bad.

September 20, 2011  10:04 AM ET

I totally would level my brother too. Isn't that what brothers do?

Ya but when it's during roller hockey or mini sticks there's no NHL career on the line.

Yeah, but any of those three I'd still lay him out, just as Eric I assume did, and feel bad about the effects after. Would have been even worse if Eric had gotten suspended for the hit. Any guesses on whether Cooke would elbow his own brother?

He got hurt after a hit, facts of life playing in the nhl...so it was his borther...doesn't change much.

Keith and Wayne Primeau dropped the gloves and beat each others asses. It sucks your brother got a concussion, but you obviously didn't intend that so put on the big boy pants and quit being emo.

When you and your brother drop the gloves on each other and go toe to toe at center ice then, i'll entertain your regretful feelings.

If anyone here is a boxing fan this thread is appropo ! The best non happening fight in Boxing is the 2 Klitchko Brothers. I understand their Parents forbidding it but man that would be an awesome battle.

The hit really didn't look that bad. And why did it take this long to be a concern?

This fight (were it ever to happen) would top Ali-Frazier. Best fight (with probable rematches) in the past 50 or more years, and it's a no-go...

LOL! Good point.

"Eric, why did you have to go hit your brother like that? He apologized for wrecking your favorite bike years ago..."
