Burnett critical of Girardi's early hook

08:18 AM ET 09.20 | Joe Girardi's hook on A.J. Burnett Monday against Minnesota didn't sit well with the embattled pitcher. When asked about failing to get through the fifth inning in the Yankees 6-4 win, the inconsistent starter corrected the reporter asking the correction with his version of the events that happened. "I didn't get through the fifth because I wasn't allowed through the fifth," Burnett said. "It wasn't that I couldn't get through the fifth. No matter who says what or whatever, I got confidence in myself and that's all that matters." While Burnett didn't specifically call out [Girardi] for pulling him in the fifth inning with the Yankees up 5-3, he didn't hide away from implying that he thought he could have continued in the game.

85 pitches 4.0 innings pitched and he wants to know why he got the hook!! Friggin amazing...I remember an old SI issue where they interviewed Earl Weaver after he retired and they asked him if he still watched any baseball games..he said " I'll put on the game and if the pitcher throws more than 25 pitches in an inning I turn it off"...
