Battier a goner?

08:07 AM ET 09.21 | While Grizzlies fans can be optimistic about a Marc Gasol return, what about Shane Battier? Unlike Gasol, Battier is an unrestricted free agent. That means he can sign wherever he wants without the Griz having a right to match any contract offers. I do know the Griz are very interested in re-signing Battier. I also know this deal will come down to nothing but dollars and cents. I've heard (and this is not fact) that Battier is seeking a contract starting at the mid-level exception (or around $5 million). I've also heard the Griz aren't willing to pay that. So Battier is absolutely right when he says we'll have to wait and see what the new CBA looks like. No one knows what the exceptions will be if there are any at all.

Come to LA, Bro.

I would love to see him in a green jersey with KG, Paul, Ray and Raj. Small team, but a solid lineup in the last 5 minutes of the game. At this stage of his career, he is looking for money or to play in the finals and the celts can offer the latter.

Yep..as a Dukie since 88 even I thought this was the best he could hope to be in the 'A'. Never was a great athlete, high flyer or super scorer...just gritty and defensive minded. Guess ppl expected more bc he was drafted so high but...cant blame him for that

He's not going anywhere,
Grizz 4 life;

...which makes him well worth what he's asking; and why he'll get it.

Wallace would not sign him knowing they have oj to content with...Heisley on the other hand will force some type of play to keep him. Shane helped sell a lot of tickets because of his popularity.

MLE may be selling himself short...In his role he is worth a little more than that maybe 7mil

Battier isn't worth the MLE. If he gets it he'll be a bust ?? la James Posey. He's such an overated role player.

Shane Battier and overrated do not belong i the same sentence....Matter of fact the complete opposite should be there.
