Sandoval may need surgery

08:15 AM ET 09.21 | Though Pablo Sandoval's left shoulder may heal on its own, Bruce Bochy on Tuesday acknowledged that the third baseman might need surgery after the season. Sandoval still cannot hit right-handed and did not start Tuesday night's game against the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw. Sandoval struck out in a pinch-hitting appearance in the eighth against right-handed reliever Kenley Jensen and stayed in the game to play third. Another left-hander, Dana Eveland, pitches for Los Angeles tonight. That leaves the Giants without one of their two big hitters in one, perhaps two, critical games. "It's tough," Bochy said. "I talked to Pablo to see where he was, but he can't swing right-handed. I'm not going to lie: I was hoping he'd could go, but he can't."

In more interesting news Giants news, Linceum and Kershaw have now faced off five times this season. Kershaw is 5-0 in those contests.

True, but it's not like Lincecum has gotten blown out. He's pitched well, but Kershaw has pitched better and the Giants can't hit at all. It's hard to get too mad at your starter for going 0-5 in games where he gave up fewer than two runs a game on average.

True, and both of them will watch the playoffs at home.

QUOTE(#7):

Do you know how many times Marichal and Koufax faces each other?4 times. Lincecum has had a disappointing year. Sure his ERA against LA is 1.83, but he has been out of whack all year. I'm sure he'll come back next year and go 5-0 against LA.

I like lincecum, but I'll take that bet in a second.

I'm not trying to knock Lincecum as much as I am trying to praise Kershaw. I'm his mom, by the way.

Kershaw would gladly trade those 5 wins for Lincecum's World Series ring.

And Lincecum would trade his world series ring for Eckstein's two world series rings. What's yer point?

Another freak injury in an injury filled year. Oh well, The Giants will get healthy and come back next year.

What did Lincecum have to do with Panda's injury?
