really? there is nothing of this in Cbus Ohio......

December 20, 2007  09:28 AM ET

Get 'em young, eh?

Although if the dude is 6-7 and 303 lbs. as a sophomore in high school, I can see why you would. Damn.

December 20, 2007  09:31 AM ET

Well, good gracious, the kid's like 15, there won't be any word of him in Columbus for another year and a half. Just a local paper trying to play up a high school hero.

December 20, 2007  10:51 AM ET

The only recruits you hear about here are the O lineman they landed and the big IF that is Pryor....

December 20, 2007  11:24 AM ET

This isn't exactly the right thread for it, but does anyone have any good information on why the 2 defensive backs have been suspended from the team for the BCS Championship Game? I think that's better T&R fodder anyway than some giant high school sophomore.

Washington (starter) and Clifford (backup who sees decent playing time) are who I am referring to. The timing of this is horrible.

December 20, 2007  12:35 PM ET

Not sure what the deal is, team rule infraction, is the most I've heard. Washington is a loss but Chekwa will fill in just fine. Clifford got some snaps but not enough to make a difference....

December 20, 2007  12:43 PM ET

Official word is "unspecified rules violation." There are rumors on some boards that it involves possession of a substance, possibly marijuana. But that would contradict the official statement that this is not a legal matter.

Here's the newspaper report:

By Ken Gordon and Tim May
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State starting cornerback Donald Washington and reserve corner Eugene Clifford have been suspended for the national championship game because of a violation of team rules, a source close to the team confirmed last night.

There were no details on the nature of the violation, except that it is not a legal issue.

2010? We cannot begin to discuss the things that could change or happen between now and then? This is just stupid.

December 20, 2007  02:04 PM ET

Wow, Truth and I agree on something. Look up folks, and check to see if Jesus is a comin'.

As an aside, that kid's mother deserves a medal. Must have been like popping a bowling ball through a garden hose.

"Must have been like popping a bowling ball through a garden hose."

December 20, 2007  02:24 PM ET

HAHA!

December 20, 2007  02:53 PM ET

yea never heard of him but if we land him.and if he is any good. our 2010 O line will be the greatest o line in the history of college football.
They are all gonna be 6-7 310+
that is definitely the biggest 15 yr old ever

December 20, 2007  03:04 PM ET

By 2010 shouldn't Orlando Pace Jr. and Herbsteit's kids be ready?

Sign the duffers now I say!

December 20, 2007  04:09 PM ET

Truth: Funny. I think Herbstreit's kids are more like 2015 to 2020.

December 20, 2007  11:19 PM ET

The kid should go to FSU for the education.

How'ld you like to be the poor 195 lb high school sophomore who has to line up across from him in a game...

...or worse yet, the poor 170 lb scout team lineman who had to line up opposite every day for practice...
