08:00 AM ET 09.22 | Chris Johnson could probably use the extra reps. The Titans running back did not practice Wednesday, however, because of sore ribs. Johnson said he would practice Thursday and expects to play Sunday against the Broncos. "I am just a little sore," he said. "I got a lot of mental reps. I'll be OK. ... I am anxious to get back on the field and play games." After missing training camp and all four preseason games because of a contract holdout, Johnson is averaging just 2.3 yards per carry through two games. Coach Mike Munchak and running-backs coach Jim Skipper met with Johnson this week. "They just wanted to really know how I was feeling and things like that, and I let them know I was good," Johnson said.

"Believs in mental reps?"

How about "believes in spell check?" Or at least in learning how to spell in elementary school."

Didn't he start very slowly last season before putting together a very good one? I'm not suggesting that there's nothing wrong but at the very least, his past early-season sluggishness dictates that he's worth having some patience with. Two bad games don't "break" a RBs career or season, so I really don't see where all the panic is coming from. Then again, I'm certain most of those ringing the alarm are the type that just "want" him to fail for the sake of some silly personal enmity.

It's good he's getting mental reps. His brain needs the exercise.
