Ortiz says you can boo all you like

08:10 AM ET 09.22 | The Red Sox, somewhat appropriately, lost their final home stand of the season on Wednesday. [Josh Beckett] and Alfredo Aceves failed. And the hitters? Ortiz and the rest of the lineup could not solve the four-headed pitching beast of Tommy Hunter, Clay Rapada, Willie Eyre and Jim Johnson. Yeah, but what team can? Go ahead and boo, all you want. "Of course, if I were the fans, I would be frustrated, too," Ortiz said. "I've been here, what, nine years? We've never collapsed that bad. And trust me, we've been through some tough times. It's bad, though. Seems like no matter what we do, it's going to be bad." ... A soft schedule against the Orioles to wrap up the season? The Red Sox are playing as if they would lose an intra-squad game.

....and they did

Tough call. do I root for a total collapse and them not make the playoffs OR are they going to be such an easy out if they make it that it will continue the embarrassment.

Decisions. Decisions.

It's hard to see this team doing anything in the playoffs if they do hang on. Things can change on a dime, especially if a couple of key guys can get healthy enough to play again (Clay and Youk would be great), but they're looking like they'd just be meat in the first round.

Every quote I see or hear from Red Sox personel just sounds horrible. Like they're just packing it in at this point. What a shame.

The Mets are the Yankees of the NL. Of course, without the success.
