08:16 AM ET 09.22 | By some accounts, the end is near for Dan Beebe. [Beebe] was working Wednesday on an agreement to leave his position as Big 12 Conference commissioner, according to two sources with knowledge of Beebe's decision. ... "He's working on his exit package right now," one of the sources, who spoke directly to Beebe, told The Star on Wednesday night. "A couple of weeks ago he told me privately that if the conference stayed together and he had to go it would be like lifting up a huge weight off his heart." ... One of the things that contributed to Beebe's decision to leave, according to the source, was how he was perceived by some as being too willing to do the bidding of the University of Texas. "Up in your neck of the woods," said the source, "he is considered a puppet for Texas."

I've been very critical of Dan Beebe on these boards. I'll tip my hat to him for negotiating the Fox (cable) contract to share revenue equally. I'm sure he would have pursued the same with the ABC (broadcast) contract when it comes up for renewal in 2016. But that probably wasn't going to be good enough to appease the rest of the whiney Big12/10/9.

No I think he means that OU's rev would be around $21 million but if they share it drops to $18 million and they want Tx to pay them $3 million.

Okay. Now I'm on board.

If true, OU is really going out on some limbs this week.
