Hunter: They're not ready to deal

08:19 AM ET 09.23 | The climate, from Billy Hunter's perspective, isn't ripe for a producing a solution. In an exclusive interview with SheridanHoops.com, Hunter said the league has made "glacial" movement recently in the amount of aggregate dollars they are willing to devote to player salaries, but those proposals have been hypothetical rather than formal. ... "I really don't think they're ready to do a deal. My position is that they said 2 years ago they were prepared to lockout for a year to get what they wanted, and I think the way they've negotiated gives every indication that that's bearing out. And while they're talking about not wanting to miss the season or having to cancel games, I'm not really sure that that's the truth," Hunter said.

Does anybody care that much about the NBA?

Personally, I hope they lose the season and the owners get what they are looking for. I think less money makes more true competition on the court.

Football economics suck for the players but it makes a dam good product.

If there is no season, better watch the crime rate. It's bound to go up by leaps and bounds.

Doesn't it trouble anyone that only 5 teams have a shot at winning a World Championship in the NBA?

Baseball is the same way. Maybe worse.

The players need to come to grips that they are simply overpaid.

The Lady or the Tiger, Bro?

Is this surprising? These guys are willing to let Rome burn while they fiddle away about the money.

They better look at the NHL carefully. The NBA is not as popular as it once was in the 80s. Magic, Bird, Kareem, MJ, Isiah Thomas, and Bird are not coming out of the tunnel ever again unless they are coaches or GMs.

They will sink their league if they are not careful, and no one will feel sorry for them if they do. I guess after March Madness there will be no more basketball. It could be the last professional basketball for awhile could be the WNBA. Yay.
