Giants won't punt to DeSean this time

08:26 AM ET 09.24 | Steve Weatherford will be aiming for the seats and not just the sidelines tomorrow at Lincoln Financial Field. The Giants' veteran punter knows all too well the fate that befell predecessor Matt Dodge for kicking to Eagles speedster DeSean Jackson with the game on the line last December. Dodge ultimately lost his job after his accidental line drive to Jackson at the Meadowlands resulted in a 65-yard touchdown return with no time left and devastating 38-31 Giants loss. Not wanting to repeat Dodge's massive mistake, Weatherford said the Giants have no intention of punting to Jackson at any point in this weekend's NFC East matchup. "Ideally, I'd like to have the ball as far out of bounds as possible every time I punt it," Weatherford said.

That's fine if you can do it.

Must be teams, with wounded duck QB 's day at FN!

Afraid it is not going to matter. Looks like a blow out game to me.

You mean Matt Dodge didn't make the roster this year? Shocking.

I though Coughlin's heart and head were going to explode that game. He was soooo peeved at that punter.

September 24, 2011  08:49 AM ET

They're still having nightmares about that return...Giants Suck.

September 24, 2011  08:51 AM ET

Hope he gets off a 10 yard punt

Yup...

Eli's ability to slide won't come into question either.

One of the more amusing moments from last season. :-)

Or Eli will be throwing to The Iggles DBs to end drives.

Doesn't say much for the Giants' faith in their special teams, does it.

This is my 69th post, and perhaps my last. That in and of itself makes this a worthy post if nothing more. Anyone punting to DeSean ought to be DeMoted...

I think they should kick to Desean.

Ideally I'd like to see this piece of crap twisted like a pretzel.

Sure is starting out that way. I thought the Giants' D would keep it close, but I didn't expect this. Hope they keep it up.
