Oregon coach Mike Bellotti is being wooed by UCLA officials about the Bruins' football coaching job, sources familiar with the search said. Bellotti has been interviewed by UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero, who has pursued the Ducks' coach throughout the process, sources said. Bellotti has listened to UCLA's overtures, according to one source.

I hope Bellotti stays with DD. DD deserves to contend for the title and I'd hate to see him have to play through the chaos of a coaching transition.

December 21, 2007  12:02 PM ET

WOW! This is starting to sound like UCLA hasn't found their man yet. Interesting and yet head-scratching!

December 21, 2007  12:41 PM ET

OLD NEWS! Bellotti wouldnt leave Oregon (he is 105-50 there) to go to a school that pays MUCH less and has much tougher academic standards for players.

December 21, 2007  01:35 PM ET

the report says that Bellotti only gets paid about 1 million in Oregon, and that UCLA is willing to pay up to 2 million. He has a great thing going at Oregon, but really, UCLA is a place where athletes can recruit themselves, their are a good coach away from becoming a powerhouse

December 21, 2007  02:05 PM ET

Bellotti better stay at Oregon, because the criteria changes at UCLA! For example, how his team folded after the injury of his QB would not be accepted at UCLA.

December 21, 2007  02:41 PM ET

UCLA will pay $2M total in a multi-year contract. Not a single season. They have never been a coach away from being a powerhouse. They are the little sister in LA. UCLA folded after Olsen and Cowan went down. They lost to ND, no one seemed to care.

December 21, 2007  02:51 PM ET

I hope he goes. We need someone new. The last fews years we have had great starts and tanked the last few games. A change migh be good.

December 21, 2007  02:52 PM ET

ucla sucks and Oregon is the better football school anyway. The only reason Bellotti interviewed is to get a pay raise.

December 21, 2007  03:24 PM ET

HEY SOONER GIRL... do you realize that DD is injured and this is his final season at UO? there is no way he will be able to contend for a national title. Unless ofcourse Belloti gets hired by the Atlanta Braves minor league system and coaches him next year in baseball.

If Belloti and Mike Riley would split a season coaching, they would have a national powerhouse every year. Belloti always starts off on fire while Riley starts out slow and then Riley picks up around mid October when Belloti tanks. Just think if they could be co-coaches for a team.

December 21, 2007  03:29 PM ET

That would be a great hire for UCLA. He could bring them back to what they once were in football.

It would be a HUGE loss for Nike, er Oregon.

WHAT HAPPEN WITH MR. MORIMOTO I MEANT NORM CHAO??

December 21, 2007  04:02 PM ET

I BET HE CAN'T WAIT TO LEAVE THOSE UGLY A SS UNIFORMS BEHINF SHOOOOOOOOOO KITTTYYYYYYYYYYY!

December 21, 2007  04:06 PM ET

"UCLA will pay $2M total in a multi-year contract. Not a single season."

Is obvious Mr. U$C fan doesn't know how to read, here's the quote directly, "UCLA officials are in position to offer a new coach between $1 million and $2 million ANNUALLY". Besides, a new coach getting signed to a multiyear contract with just 2 million is ridiculous

December 21, 2007  04:11 PM ET

Hey MARINsur4...I heard that Matt Leinart went "ballroon dancing" with Jamie Lynn Spears a few months back.

December 21, 2007  04:19 PM ET

Well good by and I hope he takes Nick Alotti with him! Since Tetfred left for Cal. The Ducks haven't been the same. Kinda makes you wonder who realy bilt the program? Cal did finish slow this year but Oregon hasn't won a bowl gime since he was a coach there!

December 21, 2007  05:03 PM ET

Screw sources. I am sick of sources.

December 21, 2007  05:13 PM ET

what are you talking about? Oregon has been doing fine without Tedford. So Bellotti is staying, thats the latest

December 21, 2007  06:35 PM ET

Like the man said....bad info...Bellotti told UCLA thanks but no thanks. Chow said the same thing.

December 21, 2007  06:48 PM ET

Nope, I didn't realize this was DD's last year. How sad.

December 21, 2007  08:14 PM ET

I thought they said on like ESPN or something that Bellotti is staying at Oregon.
