Will Chiefs cut Cassel in '12?

10:06 AM ET 09.25 | It feels like just yesterday that former Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel was the toast of the town in Kansas City and the recipient of a six-year, $63-million contract. Now some fans want Cassel, coach Todd Haley, and general manager Scott Pioli out after the season. By the end of this season, Cassel will have collected about $40 million on his contract. He's more cuttable in 2012, when his cap charge is $5.5 million, than in the final two years ($7.7 million and $9.2 million).

Wow! How the Chiefs have fallen this year. I would venture to guess that Pioli and Haley will be "cut" along with Cassel.

Before that if the Chiefs keep getting blown away by 30+ every game.

Sorry, I meant to target Haley with that comment.

Chiefs fans... Who replaces Haley if he's fired during the season?

I have a hunch it's coming.

Looks like Jeff Fisher will have his choice of jobs...Miami, Jacksonville and now K.C.

Great oogaly moogaly. :-)

If they keep going the way they are and end up with the top pick in the draft they'll garb Andrew Luck and dump Cassell. Looks like the Chiefs miss Charlie Weis more than anyone could have predicted...

Weis is an outstanding coordinator. As a head coach, not so much.

Still funny after all this time.

And they never had any leftovers either.

It's very funny how a QB, takes the credit when the team is doing well and all the blame when the team go into the tank!!!

It seems most players who get the big payday are never as good as they were before the contract. There needs to be an incentive clause in every one.

Luck is going to the Seahakws!!!! Seattle is terrible this year and will be lucky to win two games.

Yup...

He doesn't play defense.

Neither does anyone else on the Chiefs.

Add to the mix the season-ending injuries to Berry and Charles and you have one hell of a mess.

Are we being punished by FN? Only one thread today, and it's about the Chiefs. Come on, fellars, did we do something wrong?

Scott Pioli , from the big house to the out house. It happens fast.

I guess they think they used all the good stuff yesterday, Stu.

Cut him when they draft Luck ... or Jones ... or Barkley.

They posted a story about McCoy in Cleveland if that sounds more interesting to you.
