08:10 AM ET 09.26 | Davey Johnson may or may not be the long-term answer in Washington, but he won't be left wondering long. General Manager Mike Rizzo expects a relatively quick resolution to the Nationals' open managerial situation, he said today. The Nationals will conduct a search for their next manager even if they eventually bring back [Johnson] for 2012, and after the experience of hiring a manager before the 2010 season, Rizzo sees no reason to dawdle. "Because we've done this exercise before, we've got a very streamlined group of high-quality candidates that we're going to talk to," Rizzo said. "I anticipate the process being much quicker because we???ve already identified a lot of the candidates that we're going to talk to."

Things look brighter than they have since the team moved to DC. I like Davey but he's probably ready to leave the day-to-day grind behind and another guy will be coming in IMO.

I'd like to see him stay. The Nats have played exceptionally well in the past couple of months. This looks like a fun team to watch for years to come.

Bye bye Davey - Nats are good young team, they need a young manager who can manage the young and very promising pitching staff...John Farrell?
