Prince to stay, after all?

08:12 AM ET 09.26 | Even Prince Fielder believes he's a goner, but is there a chance he stays? GM Doug Melvin wouldn't comment, but major league sources said the Brewers may make a bid to keep him after all. And when it comes to my longtime theory that the Nationals will be his team because of the Scott Boras tie-ins, I reserve the right to change my mind. The Nationals do have a logjam at first base, where Michael Morse will likely end up because he's not a very good left fielder. They probably will deal Adam LaRoche. They also have Chris Marrero, one of the organization's top prospects, who has looked good during his September call-up.

If Satan, err, I mean Boras has his way, Prince will be a Nat causing conflict and a basic blowup to what could be a promising team.

Prince is definitely staying at the buffet for 6 more helpings.

QUOTE(#8):

Why would the Yanks want Fielder? He's not as good as Tex at the plate or in the field. And Fielder doesn't want to DH.

Tex's OPB at .339 and OPS at .821 versus fielder (.409/.955) would say Tex is far from being better than Fielder at the plate

For $25 million, Fielder will agree to DH.

For the Yanks it's worth a shot to convince him to get his bat.

come to oakland - but for every million u have to lose 1 pound.

So for $100 million u have to lose 100 lbs

I'm thinking a 180 lb Fielder wouldn't be worth much.

Why would they sign Fielder for over $20M a season when they have Morse & LaRoche? Granted, Fielder is WAY better but is it worth paying him when you dont necessarily need him?

Bautista-Fielder, 3-4, just saying ...

Hey, rb111 I see this is your first comment. Welcome to the gang! Having said that,
sorry to criticize you. Prince has a much higher OBP largely because he has McGehee
batting after him. Then that higher OBP shows up again in OPS.

September 26, 2011  03:42 PM ET

McGehee? You haven't really been watching the Brewers this season.
