08:13 AM ET 09.27 | When one considers the end of the Ozzie era, "surprise" probably doesn't come to mind first. Since the Marlins contacted the Chicago White Sox as early as September 2010 to seek permission to talk to manager Ozzie Guillen, Sox general manager Ken Williams has been prepared to find a successor. That time finally has arrived, although Williams declined to elaborate Monday night. "I have definite answers on that," said Williams, who had yet to name an interim manager for the final two games of 2011. "I will say just very briefly that because of the warnings, we've had ample time to kind of dwindle a list to a few select candidates. And we think that we can act swiftly, but I think that accompanies a plan of attack to the 2012, '13, '14 seasons."

Please not Joey Cora. He is not qualified and is a bench coach at best. Harold Baines or Robin Ventura would be good.

Yes, that is their plan of attack for the next three seasons.

Please make TLR top of the list to get him out of STL!

Ha! I just made a comment about that on the Pujols page. I just don't see it. He already managed the White Sox when Reinsdorf was the owner. Reinsdorf fired LaRussa.

Wait for the Bobby Valentine rumor. Dude, gets mentioned for every job that comes up.

Ugh. Other than wearing a fake mustache after being thrown out of a game, what has that guy done? He should just stay with ESPN and make stupid comments with Kruk.

"Williams has post-Ozzie plan prepared"

Maybe that would include hiring a new manager?

First, Williams plans to throw a huge party now that Guillen is gone.

I don't see it either, unfortunately since the Cards FO would want him managing when/if he moves into second place

UGH!

Hawk wasn't the owner. Hawk had a boss.

An owner who listens to his baseball people, he isn't steinbrenner. La Russa's firing was and always will be on Hawk. good announcer, terrible gm. Just like if he was rehired it would be kenny williams move, not reinsdorf's

September 27, 2011  10:21 AM ET

that being said, would love to see sandy alomar jr as next manager

You don't think Williams will go to Reinsdorf with his candidates? You don't think Hawk went to Reinsdorf first before LaRussa was fired? Please. GMs have bosses. Hawk and Williams hire themselves as GM?

definitely not

TLR has been successful with StL - why go anywhere - may not like his managing style - but he consistantly manages winners.

So you are happy with the totally inexplicable moves he makes? I'm not and I know I'm not the only one

Managers don't win games but they can lose them by making weird ass moves
