Big 12 would survive without Mizzou

08:19 AM ET 09.28 | As long as the SEC has 13 teams, speculation is likely to continue that it will find a 14th. Your turn, Missouri. Your turn to decide whether this Dark Shadows league that can't be killed is the best place for you. I don't know if the SEC wants Missouri, and I don't know if Missouri wants to go. But this I know. The SEC should want Mizzou, and Mizzou should want the SEC. ... Missouri doesn't hold the Big 12's fate in its hands. Sure would be nice if the Tigers stayed, because don't look now, but good football programs suddenly are in short supply. But the Big 12 will endure. Nothing short of a stake through Bevo's heart will end the Big 12.

Is Mizzou comes it's because the SEC is moving to 16 teams.

Since I'm so tied in with the UTK AD's office, here's my 2 cents. It will be West Virginia as the 14th team.

Texas as Barnabas Collins? Who'd have thunk it.

Seriously, I think the SEC hopes for Virginia Tech, but will end up with WVU as the 14th team. VT worked too hard to get into the ACC (and be at par with UVa) to bolt from there. WVU has a respectable football program and a pretty rabid fan base.

Why those schools instead of Mizzou? Because the SEC doesn't need to do a major reallignment of teams (Auburn to the East, moving the Iron Bowl to some date other than the end of the season, and ending the dedicated game between UTK and Bama). This way, A&M ends up in the West and New School U ends up in the East.

Aggies cause headaches regardless of where they are.

Va Tech isn't leaving the ACC. They can win the championship there every year a lot easier.

Wait til the SEC get's a load of that freak show. What's with Deloss Dodds and Chuck Neinas partnering to help teams find a new conference? DD worked wonders getting UT in the ACC, Big 10, and Pac 12, why would anyone want to retain that kind of help?

The Big 12 would be just fine if they had the sack to stand up to Texas. Their preferential treatment has been a sore in the other teams sides for a long time. Until that problem is resolved, turmoil will continue.

I figure it will be WVA or Mizzou, with WVA having the edge here. It is a shame that Okie and Lite do not apply. The Horns too, they could keep their 3rd tier money. I think TxEspn should not be the ones promoting it though, therein lies the rub, IMO it makes it 2nd tier money with them doing that. But, what do I know!

Good question. Both would be an excellent fit. Both would compete quite well. Aggies will not see a conference title for 20 years in the SEC.

If ou saw the Aggie/Okie Lite game last saturday, Aggies played quite well in the first half. If Okie Lite had played the entire game like they played the first half, Aggies would have been blown out. Think what LSU/Bama/Florida, and even Akie can do to them on a weekly basis.

Aggies will be no better than the 7th best team in SEC, in a good year.

+1. Totally agree. Believe UT has been playing the 'We will leave the conference' card all along. Big IX now realizes UT has no place to go. Hope the other teams grow some rocks on this issue.
