Pennington's last start as Jet?

Despite given several opportunities to say he wants to remain a Jet and battle for the starting job next season, QB Chad Pennington danced around the question and it seems highly unlikely he'll return next year. Pennington, who lost his starting job to the injured Kellen Clemens after a Week 8 loss to Buffalo, will start against the Titans on Sunday. It could be his last start as a Jet. Clemens remains the heir apparent despite an uneven showing in seven starts this season.

If I didn't hate the Chiefs so much, the Jets would be my least favourite team in the league. I am enjoying watching this, haha. Pennington is a china doll who's lost his ability to even play when healthy - why would they want him anyway? Let him go, give Clemens the off-season to learn the playbook a bit more, and maybe get some reps throwing to his receivers in the off season, and we'll see where it goes from there. I'd say Pennington could probably be the beer guy in the stands if he wanted, but he'd likely dislocate his shoulder if he did...

Picture looks like he's fixing to give someone some sign language.

He'll have lots of options such as Carolina, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago to name just a few teams in dire need of a QB.

count your blessings to get out of magini's mess. my you find a real nfl to play for next season

There are a lot of teams who need a QB.. Get out of town Chad.. Also I think Cleveland would make a big mistake getting rid of Anderson.. Brady showed what he is made up of by holding out so long.. I love it that Anderson is doing such a great job for the Browns, it might make the decision to go with Quinn harder!!!

December 21, 2007  11:06 AM ET

I agree with Backlash....Derek Anderson (QB from Cleveland) will be on the market this off season. There are about 20 teams that need a good QB...should be a fun bidding war to watch :)

If Chad were smart, he would become a backup QB. His mind is great, but his body is breaking down. So why not make a million a year to hold a clipboard and come in to take a knee at the end of a few blowout games?

December 21, 2007  12:12 PM ET

Chad does not need to try to start for a bad team. His body will not take the pounding he would get with the Falcons or the Dolphins. Nothing against the guy personally, but you guys are writing checks his body can't cash.

Does this mean the Jets will start winning?

December 21, 2007  01:14 PM ET

I think a change of scenery will be good for Chad. He's not as bad as people think and there are a lot of teams that need an efficient quarterback. He's not a superstar, but I think he could get the job done somewhere else.

Chad ......will be a journeyman backup..........meet the next Testaverde

December 21, 2007  04:16 PM ET

There are worse things than being a backup quarterback. No one hits you. You still make several times the wages of most college-educated professionals. What's not to like.

I wish I could be a journeyman backup QB. It sounds pretty freakin cool to me.

December 21, 2007  04:17 PM ET

he better not come to the bears. i dont want some weak armed mad magazine cover guy starting when hes a guy who could throw the ball and his arm might go with it.

December 21, 2007  04:33 PM ET

Yeah, I would hate to have someone put a blemish on Chicago's long and proud history of outstanding QB play. lol
