08:16 AM ET 09.30 | A Terry Francona departure from Boston may be a mutual decision. If the White Sox have designs on making [Francona] their successor to Ozzie Guillen, one important door has been opened. Francona has had enough of his eroding Boston experience, a major-league source said, and will ask the club not to exercise the option on his contract. "He has had his fill of the whole thing," the source told the Sun-Times. Francona, who guided the Red Sox to two World Series championships, decided it was time to cut ties before the Red Sox' September collapse came to its horrifying conclusion Wednesday night. His contract has options worth $4.25 million for 2012 and $4.5 for 2013, more than double what Guillen was paid this season.

I have always believed that Francona was an average manager with great talent around him. Once the talent choices went from great to average or worse his management style just couldn't help.

He said some very interesting things regarding team chemistry....missing Youkilis, Varitek and Bucholtz (sp?)...didn't help....wouldn't panic...the Red Sox Nation has endured worse...but I think Francona has had enough...

I like Francona...he is a no BS manager. The fact is in any pro sport the shelf life of a coach/manager is limited. The saying you are hired to be fired is very accurate. Whether its with Chicago or somewhere else Francona will land another gig. I wish him the best.

He ain't coming here. No way Reinsdorf offers him near what he was making in Boston. Not saying he wouldn't manage here for less, but I doubt it.
