08:14 AM ET 09.30 | While simple math may not suggest improvement, Alex Anthopoulos believes the Blue Jays are better heading into 2012 than they were 2011. "Although the wins aren't the same, I think we're in a similar place," he said Thursday at a media conference. "But I think our jumping off point is much better. I think we have a better core in place right now." The Blue Jays posted an 81-81 record this season under new manager John Farrell after defeating the Chicago White Sox 3-2 on Wednesday. Last year, under Cito Gaston, who was retiring as manager, the club finished 85-77. Anthopoulos said all the coaches from this season will be offered contracts. He expects them all to return, saying they did the best with what they had to work with.

Ya they really found some good young players who will be contributors next year. Lawrie will definitely be a star and watch out for Henderson Alvarez. Hopefully Kyle Drabek can figure things out next year. J.P Arencibia had a solid rookie year should show improvement in year 2. And i think Eric Thames showed that he belongs

Also it would be great if Travis Snider starting playing up to his potential. He had some small stretches were he showed what all the fuss about him in the organization was a few years ago but then he'd always fall into a major slump and get sent back down to AAA

No they werent. They had Arencibia who has as much power as Napoli for alot less $, and received a solid set-up man they turned into a closer.

Dont hate when you should've seen that coming.

write this down...the Blue jays are going to win the AL east or the wildcard within the next 2 years.

2 years might be a bit early. They need a couple more bats and a couple pitchers first...

Napoli is a good guy to have as DH and backup C though...

This funny. It doesn't matter what you think you are only as good as your current record. They may be in good shape going forward but they still play in the AL East.

and there is the problem

selig should apply the realigment rule and send the jays to the central, and bring in the indians or the royals either team shouldn't be any differences after all!!
