08:19 AM ET 09.30 | Though it may seem hard for Oregon fans to argue with Chip Kelly's results, some aren't happy with walls going up around the program. Kelly, one person close to the situation said, is happier in his office, shades drawn, watching video. Unlike predecessors Rich Brooks and Mike Bellotti, Kelly never has been a regular at the Oregon Club of Portland's weekly booster luncheons. ... Kelly does address the Portland luncheons via a new video-conferencing system, which [Rob Mullens] says works well, and has been attending Monday luncheons of the Oregon Club of Eugene-Springfield. One Eugene booster grouses, though, he learned nothing there he hadn't already heard on television or read in news accounts.

Kelly doesn't have to schmooz the locals and boosters. He just has to keep Uncle Phil happy.

It's amazing if the guy makes the team one of the best in the country, but they're mad at him because he is not coming to lunch.
